Abruzzo, Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano Südtirol, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Marche, Molise, Piemonte, Sardegna, Toscana and Umbria are all members of the  European network of GMO-free Regions

 ItaliaEuropa - Liberi da Ogm:
A national initiative of 28 organisations representing farmers, large distribution, small and medium sized businesses, consumer, environmental, scientific, cultural and international cooperation interest groups launched a National Consultation on GMOs in 2007. The initiative collected 3 million votes against GMOs in Italy from September 15 to November 15 2007

Regional
 Guideline for Regional coexistence laws (Italian)
This document has been produced by the Technical Interregional WG on GMOs of the Italian Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces. It has been unanimously approved by the Conference of the Presidents of Regions and Autonomous Provinces. At the moment it has no juridical effect but it's a strong political agreement.
