New Genomic Techniques: a battle to protect consumer choice and organic food production
Safe Food Advocacy Europe – SAFE 2026-02-09

SAFE regrets recent legislative steps to make New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) free from mandatory requirements applicable to other genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and warns that this will mean the end of organic food as we know it. We made a video to demand the reinstatement of mandatory labeling for all GMO plants and derivatives. The current NGT proposal not only threatens transparency but also removes the possibility of coexistence rules, making the contamination of organic farming inevitable.
